Relax - God's Got This

VERSE

Matthew 6:32-33 MSG - If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?

What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with gettingso you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

Matthew 6:32-33 ESV - For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

INTRO / DISCUSSION

God knows exactly who you are and what you need. Sometimes that’s a little hard for us to understand, we work, have debit cards and bank accounts. It’s easy to see how we seemingly provide for ourselves, and easier to pray that God provides “a little extra.“ In these verses, Jesus is telling us that the world provides for itself the same way we do. So what’s the difference?

Faith.

God’s provision doesn’t always mean a large bank account. As Christians, we should concern ourselves with giving and not getting, while believing that because God is who he is and because His word never lies we can relax. It takes faith to relax.

Seek first the kingdom of God AND his righteousness, and ALL these things will be ADDED to you.

Added, not multiplied. Added, not spontaneously appear like a genie. God’s looking to add what you need into your life. God’s not subtracting, He’s not in the business of dividing. God is saying:

  • Do you trust me enough to let me add instead of you trying to add by yourself?

  • Can you relax and allow God to be the one to provide?

  • Is it difficult for you to seek God’s kingdom first? Not just in church, in your life.

PRAYER

Salvation Prayer.

Prayer for ourselves, that we would see God working and providing for us.

Prayer against anxiety, depression, pressure that we put on ourselves or we allow others to put on us.
