SUMMER FRIDAYS 4 - We Need Community

Ecclesiastes 4:9 GNT

Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively.

We need community.

We need people in our lives who will not only celebrate our mountaintop victories but will also help us navigate through the valley moments that we face.

Life is full of ups and downs, highlight reels as well as dark and difficult seasons.

There is value in vulnerability and significance in being a safe place for those around us. Being able to be transparent without the fear of judgment and criticism is what we all need. Unless someone openly shares what they have been through, we never really know the depths of what they have endured.

1 Corinthians 12:26 GNT

If one part of the body suffers, all the other parts suffer with it; if one part is praised, all the other parts share its happiness.

We have to be people who consistently respond with kindness and compassion; those who love the lost and lonely, pray for and encourage each other, and are readily available with open hearts and hands.

As a community, we can openly share our stories in hopes to help others find the same healing and freedom that we have found in our own lives. If you don’t have a community like this, you can be the one who creates it and welcomes others into a space that could quite literally change their lives.

2 Corinthians 1:4 GNT

He helps us in all our troubles, so that we are able to help others who have all kinds of troubles, using the same help that we ourselves have received from God.

PRAYER

God,

Help me choose positive influences and surround myself with those who uplift and inspire. Guide me to be a better friend to others, showing kindness, understanding, and support. Grant me the wisdom to discern healthy relationships and the strength to let go of negative influences. May my friendships reflect your love and bring joy and growth to our lives. In your name, I pray. Amen.
