Power of God II / Say Nothing - (Jun. 14-18)

13 And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

Exodus 14:13-14

Moses was in a tough spot. He led his people to the wilderness, and they were begging him to go back. To go back to chains, slavery, serving a cruel and coldhearted ruler. What was his inspirational message? What type of speech did he give them? It’s simple, he said:

“God will fight this battle for you, shut up.”

Imagine that. It sounds rude, but that’s exactly what they needed. A few verses later, God opens an entire sea for them to walk through and they were saved.

How many times does God politely wait for us to give up? For us to realize that we need him, not our own solutions, not our own problem-solving skills. We need him! And instead of trying to reason, instead of trying to send good vibes to it, we need to be quiet and just trust him.

Discussion

  1. Are there things you need to stop speaking into?

  2. Is it easy for you to trust God to handle things in your life?
