Love Like That

1-2 Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.

Eph. 5:1-2 MSG

We can’t control the world around us. We can’t wish away pain and suffering, what we can do is agree, what we can do is learn. Paul is reminding us in this verse, that we love with restrictions.

We love with terms and conditions, we love with a list of pros and cons.

Jesus didn’t love like that, he doesn’t love us to manipulate us or rule over us. He loves us to show us how, and to show us when. We need to be like children in order to love like that. We need to forget what we know, and learn what God wants us to know.

That verse is so powerful, it says “Mostly what God does is love you.”

Mostly we complain, mostly we’re unhappy, mostly we keep to ourselves while people around us aren’t doing so well. We need to mostly love others. We need to love like Jesus.
