Be Still and Know

Intro

  • With so much happening today, the author of Psalm 46 reminds us to acknowledge who God is and what we should do - be still!

  • Let’s not take it as a simple suggestion, the author implies “stop moving, stop fighting!“ Psalm 46 was written during a war, keep the context in mind.

Verse

  • “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!“ - Psalms 46:10 ESV

  • “… Take a long, loving look at me, your High God, above politics, above everything.“ - Psalms 46:8-10 MSG

Discussion

  • This week, how still and focused on God have you been?

  • Another translation says God is above everything, do you see Him being in control of today’s situation?

  • Verse 1 is “God is our refuge and strength,“ how can we demonstrate this?
