Trust the Mysterious God

VERSE

1 At this also my heart trembles
and leaps out of its place.
2 Keep listening to the thunder of his voice
and the rumbling that comes from his mouth.
3 Under the whole heaven he lets it go,
and his lightning to the corners of the earth.
4 After it his voice roars;
he thunders with his majestic voice,
and he does not restrain the lightnings when his voice is heard.
5 God thunders wondrously with his voice;
he does great things that we cannot comprehend.

JOB 37 1-5

INTRO / DISCUSSION

This message is about God’s power.

As humans we want to try and understand so much, every day we watch and learn or read or post something. We wonder what our purpose is, we question what our God’s plan and purpose, we stare into the universe hoping to find someone staring back.

This verse in the book of Job highlights how much we DON’T understand about God.

God thunders wondrously with his voice;
he does great things that we cannot comprehend.

Keyword here is “cannot.” God will always do things at a different dimension than our understanding allows. The most important thing is to understand that despite God’s raw OP power, He’s still on our side, he chose us, he loves us, he fights for us.

In the same chapter, Job was complaining about how mysterious God’s plans are and the prophet tells him,

Job, are you listening? Have you noticed all this?
Stop in your tracks! Take in God’s miracle-wonders!

JOB 37:14

There’s wisdom in believing God AND his plan even when we don’t understand.

In the hurricane? Trust God.

In the most painful moments of life? Trust God.

When we don’t understand, TRUST GOD.
