MAR 5 - It's Jesus, not a gardener

If you’ve ever been in a tough process, then this message will be for you.

Certain moments in our lives can really push our perspective, so much so that we don’t acknowledge solutions that are standing right in front of us. God loves us, and he wants to help us and sometimes we really need him to respond.

Sometimes he appears, sometimes he sends an angel, sometimes he sends an olive branch. It’s our responsibility to see it through.

We see this in John 20, Jesus is dead. His body has been taken, and Mary is crying when she sees two men, (which are actually angels) standing by the tomb.

13 They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” 14 Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher).

John 20:13-16 ESV

Imagine confusing the person you’re crying about, with a gardener.

Now I understand, she’s grieving, there are tears in her eyes. But nothing changed until she heard her name, since God couldn’t reveal himself by sight, he revealed himself by sound.

God loves you so much, that even when you don’t see him, he’ll call out to you, and even if you don’t hear him, he’ll comfort you.

There is hope in that, and there is hope in Jesus. If you’re in a process, or maybe facing a small challenge, call out to him and he’ll respond.

  1. Are you in a process that requires prayer right now?

  2. Have you asked God to move in a way that you can recognize?

  3. Prayer: Lord, I need you. Please help me in this trial and process, but most of all reveal yourself to me. I want to see you, hear your voice, and see you move in my life in a powerful way. In Jesus’ name, amen.
