June 3 - Jus Vibin'
8 Finally, brethren,
whatever things are true,
whatever things are noble,
whatever things are just,
whatever things are pure,
whatever things are lovely,
whatever things are of good report,
if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy
—meditate on these things.
9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
I asked someone about a restaurant and they said, “it’s cool, it’s got good vibes.”
I asked someone about their relationship, and they said they were, “just vibin.’”
Is it me or is everything about vibes lately? I thought about this. What does the bible say? What should we focus on? What should have our attention? What are the vibes according to the word of God?
The bible says we should focus on truth, nobility, justice, purity, love, good findings, praiseworthy things - and not just focus on them. DWELL ON THEM. Meditate on these things.
Not the meditate you see in your head, legs crossed, sitting on the floor, saying “ohm,” over and over. Meditating on the word of God is marinating on the word of God. Soaking it in. So take in anything lovely, true, and noble.
Avoid slander, lies, gossip. Those things are easy to hear, easy to focus on, there’s a reason for that. It’s because it’s the language of the flesh. It’s the language of those who don’t really believe in God’s word.
26 If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.
James 1:26 NLT
How do we focus on the good things?
How can we keep ourselves from speaking negatively with others?
What do our words say about our character?
