VERSE:
Judges 11
INTRO / DISCUSSION:
In this passage we learn the story of Jephthah, he was a judge with a mission from God but just like us he had stumbling blocks in the way. In the times of Jephthah there was a spirit of death trying to take over the kingdom of God, but God had Jephthah with the necessary resources to overcome this spirit. He had people surrounding him telling him all he was incapable of doing.
One thing that stands out in this passage is that this man was known to be a “mighty man of valor” although he had yet to do anything to earn this title he was recognized by what God had said about him.
Although Jephthah like many men in the bible had a challenge from God he allowed himself to get distracted by the noise of those who surrounded him. He had people who would constantly speak down to him because of who his mom was.
Has there ever been a time in your life that you’ve allowed the hate and disbelief of someone around you to take you out of your purpose in GOD?
Have you let the decisions of your ancestors dictate where you are now?
Jephthah was convinced that he wasn’t good enough and left the land to Tob, but soon after the elders (who criticised him) went after him to go bring him back home. Although they were the reason he left they found the value in him to go after him. Verses 7-11 show us that Jephthah was a little bit upset, but he knew where God called him to be and laid down his pride to finish his purpose.
Have you stepped out of your purpose but allowed pride to not let you come back home?
Do you value yourself enough to be saved?
PRAYER
Salvation Prayer.
To see the value in each other that when we see our brother or sister mess up we will go after them.
To see the value in ourselves so that we will not allow pride to keep us away from our purpose and mission with God.
