Fix Us Lord

VERSE

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
    and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from your presence,
    and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
    and uphold me with a willing spirit.

Create, Renew, Restore, Uphold.

David’s prayer is one of understanding exactly who his creator is. Many times we pray for our circumstances, events, trials, tribulations, but how often do we say God, please improve me.

How often have we taken our cars to be serviced? The mechanic will tell us, the oil needs to be changed, try to give it better quality gas, your tires are a little worn. Adjusting each of these things will improve the life of our car, in the same way God can improve our lives when we allow him to fix us.

David said, “God, let me get a clean heart, renew my spirit, restore my joy, uphold or lift my spirit because sometimes it’s unwilling.”

If you’re sick, you go to a doctor, if your teeth hurt, go to a dentist. If your spirit is broken and your heart is in need, go to God, he can fix all of the above and more.
